Our tree was felled today.
A beautiful, majestic pine
That touched the sky.
A tree that is the same age
As mine…

It’s only sin was that
It got too close.
To the house.
Too close for the residents
Inside.

Is that not our goal
Our want as humans
To get close to others
To touch
Just as the tree did?

For its sin, it was felled.
A very sad day…
