Cultural Literacy

RHOTO loves to talk about subjects. To read about subjects. So, I introduced the "A First Dictionary of Cultural Literacy-What Our Children Need to Know" (by 6th grade) (1991) to our breakfast table. It was quickly a big hit. "Let's read more at teatime!" "Let's read more after supper!"
Then I presented "The Dictionary of Cultural Literacy-What Every American Needs to Know" (1988) to the table. (RHOTO's just pretending that this book is marketed for Dutch and Canadian readers ;)
Lots of the same words and subjects, but a bit more detailed, eh. W-E-L-L, we were off!! "Let's look that word up on Wikipedia, too!" "Let's look up the origin of that word under "etymology"!.
We've covered several subjects so far. NOW, we're "on" "Medicine and Health". Do you have ANY idea how many kinds of bugs there are out there and how many odd body parts we have !! ;)
Oh, it's about time for Reading time chez RHOTO ;)
